Rich McGeorge
Born on September 14, 1948, Richard “Rich” McGeorge carved out a memorable career as a tight end for the Green Bay Packers. After a standout college career at Elon, the Packers selected him in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft, making him the first tight end taken that year.

While his rookie season saw him as a reserve, McGeorge quickly earned his place as a starter, going on to start in 101 games over his nine-year career with the Packers. He was a cornerstone of the offense from 1971 through 1978.
McGeorge’s career was marked by resilience. After a season-ending knee injury in 1972 that sidelined him for the team’s only playoff appearance during his tenure, he returned the next year stronger than ever. In 1973, he earned the prestigious honor of being named the Packers’ Offensive Player of the Year. Throughout his NFL career, he caught 175 passes for 2,370 yards, solidifying his reputation as a reliable and tough player.
